Tasting notes
The Bestiary label family considers the future of what Michigan wine could be by looking at the past. This one began with Gamay Noir, first planted commercially in the region in the late 1980s, and it turns out northern Italian varieties like Lagrein are a perfect match for the black pepper notes northern Michigan Gamay carries. Fruit-forward lingonberry and pomegranate accompanied by delicate floral and cinnamon aromas. A cooler vintage gave a more feral, wild berry expression from the Lagrein, with acid wrapped in a lees-influenced texture and a soft yet tingling finish.
