There was once a time when the idea of growing Italian varieties on Old Mission Peninsula seemed outlandish. Bel Tramonto means beautiful sunset, and the name is about the marriage of bright red Sangiovese against darker Merlot. 40% Merlot, 30% Refosco, 20% Sangiovese and 15% Teroldego, from small harvests across the estate vineyards. Merlot-based aromas of chocolate and cherry followed by cranberry and vanilla, with silky Italian grape tannins and a distinctive acidity coming together in an elegant, delicate finish. 622 cases.
