Tasting notes
Despite the Cabernet in the name, Cabernet Franc in northern Michigan is not a heavyweight. Here it shows red berry fruitiness and a light tannic quality, and the pyrazine notes cool climates bring are worked with rather than against, through strategic leaf removal and cool whole berry fermentation. Bright raspberry underscored with subtle bell pepper, followed by integrated vanilla and brown sugar cinnamon. 70% from 15-year-old Jamieson Roadside vines, 30% from the 22-year-old Hilltop, with the Roadside lot left to ambient yeast.
